Both get the hard part right
App-Vault gets the fundamentals right on the same class of foundation that makes Vaultaire the closest competitor. App-Vault uses AES-256-GCM per-file encryption on device via Apple CryptoKit, with a unique nonce per file, PBKDF2-SHA256 at 600,000 iterations, a 128-bit per-install salt, Secure Enclave key wrapping, and keys pinned ThisDeviceOnly in the iOS Keychain.
Vaultaire also states AES-256-GCM on-device encryption, Secure Enclave hardware keys, zero-knowledge architecture, no server, and no account. That puts both apps in the serious category, which is why the comparison turns on the protective layers above crypto, and App-Vault ships three of them that Vaultaire lacks entirely.
