App-Vault does better on technical clarity. We use AES-256-GCM per file on device through Apple CryptoKit, with a unique nonce for each file, PBKDF2-SHA256 at 600,000 iterations, and Secure Enclave key wrapping.

Keepsafe claims AES-256, but its encryption mode is not disclosed, its key derivation is not publicly disclosed, and its cryptography references are not published. For a privacy app, those missing details matter because they make it harder to judge how the protection is actually implemented.

We also use a 5x5 pattern grid that derives the encryption key, with Face ID for quick re-unlock. Keepsafe uses a PIN lock, which is familiar, but the bigger gap is that App-Vault explains more of the security path instead of asking users to trust the brand.
